Long Time No Post.

I have been pulling crazy hours at my day job and haven't posted in a while. Lots of over time which means a bigger paycheck, but that's as long as you can keep the wife happy during that time.

So for my updates:

Bricked my Wifi Pineapple Mark 4, just got the cable this week and re-flashed from serial.
I bought this USB 2.0 to TTL UART 6PIN Module Serial Converter http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006JKNWLE/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00

Bought the NEW alfa card AWUS036NHR in a kit I got from Amazon.
High-Gain 2000mw 2W 802.11 B/G/N Wireless
So far I really like it and it suits my needs wonderfully.

I received my Raspberry Pi micro SD card to SD half cards from Kickstarter.
Here is the link to show what it is and how to get one. http://www.quilix.com/pio

I also grabbed a couple of NFC tags to start playing with.

I also have another idea for hiding the raspberry pi, but i want to show pictures of it once it's done.

Weekend Update

Just got my 8 Gigs of ram for my laptop!
Installed it and am up and running, running BT5 R3 with 2.5 Gb of ram in VirtualBox, while unzipping 2 GB files and not even skipping a step.

I disabled the Windows Gadget's, because of a vunarability, and I installed Rainmeter.
And downloaded the SHEILD skin. I'm customizing it now, but here is what I have so far.

Here is the final version

Project Updates

How I got started down this current "Virtual" path,
I saw the Raspberry Pi post about Magnum Pi  "Warrington Collegiate have been working on getting Windows 7 (!) running on the Raspberry Pi using the VMware View Open Client."
And so, down the rabbit hole I went.

Citrix XenServer free looks great, but I found out it won't work with my Dell server. So what I did is pulled my hard drive out of my main desktop tower, then plugged in an extra hard drive and installed XenServer on it. Works like a charm, I like it much better then the ESXi interface. So I need to build a Virtual Server Desktop... That will be coming in the Future. So far my parts list include the parts below.

AMD FX-8150 Zambezi
3.6GHz Socket AM3+ 125W Eight-Core Desktop Processor

GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16813128519

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series
16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16820231489

And For the case, I'm playing with making my own or grabbing this one

COOLER MASTER Elite 311 RC-311B-OWN1 Orange Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

In other news:
I ordered a more ram for my laptop, 8GB, and a Lid protector. I like putting my "Hacker" stickers on my Computers, so I desided, why not make a custom one to go over my whole laptop lid that won't get scraped  off over time. So here is what I did.

I also made one for my Nexus 7, but I'll wait a few days before I order that one.

Windows Server 2012 Beta

I'm Installing Windows Server 2012 on my Dell Server, (on another hard drive the same server is running the  ESXi server).
Started with the project at 7:55 pm.
Going with the Windows Server 2012 Standard Evaluation (Server with GUI) option,
It was Done installing at 8:16.

I was excited to hear that Microsoft was going to put a native hyper-viser inside of Server 2012, much like the ESXi. See the Link for more info http://www.zdnet.com/new-version-of-microsoft-virtualization-management-tool-bundle-coming-in-q4-2012-7000003903/

After I got it installed, I found out that my Dell server can't do the virtualization. Sad Day!

So I swapped out my hard drive and put the ESXi 4.1.0 OS back in.

At another time, i'll plug it back in and play with the Active Domain Controller side of things.

I'll be looking into Citrix's XenServer Free, It looks like it will run on my dell, and I can use the "Receiver" Program/app on everything. More to come this week. I've downloaded it and am burning to a disk.

Lenovo Update

I Love My New Laptop!
I updated Windows 7 pro, and then make my back up copy of the OS (written to dvds), then made an image of the system, then partitioned the hard drive to install Backtrack 5 R3, and updated that.

A couple of things along the way:
Ubuntu didn't see my wireless card, Linux Mint on the other hand did.
I found out that I have a usb 3.0 port and a external sata port as well, and that it will boot off of my sd card! Epic!

The Keyboard is nice, still getting used to the switched Function key and Control key, but I'll can change it in the BOIS.

Another thing I really liked, was when I booted it up for the first time, it didn't have that much bloat-ware.
I uninstalled, norton, and office 2012 demo, and that was it. It came with Chrome set up as the default browser, and Evernote as part of the softwares installed.

Over all, I Love it, and in a bit I'll add more Ram, but a great laptop at a great price!

USB bootable thumbdrive

There are 2 different peices of software you can use.

Unetbootin Or  Linux Live USB Creator.

If you want to use it Live, not saving anything, Use Unetbootin. You can get it here http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/

Or,

If you want to use it and save your changes, use Linux Live USB Creator. You can get it here http://www.linuxliveusb.com/

I'll be posting how to use each, soon. And after that I'll be posting how to make a Multi-Boot persistent mode, (which means it will save any changes I make to it.)
